Project 01_Task 01:: Begin Research

Please team up with the fellow student who was assigned the same building as you to finish this task. Please gather info about your building, which should include but not limited to the following:

• Plans, site plan, sections, and elevations
• Photos of both interior and exterior
• Conceptual models, drawings, diagrams
• Text describing conceptual, theoretical or philosophical strategies

Then using tracing paper to draw preliminary analytical diagrams, which should respond to the followig initial questions about the building in the following aspects:

• Locations of primary entrance(s) and secondary entrance(s)
• How do you circulate in the building? - PATHS
• Where do people 'live'? - PLACES
• Public vs. private spaces?
• Where are the other spaces? - SERVANT SPACES

Homework:

1. Please write a 350-word's essay as an general introduction of the building;

2. Pinup the images that you have found about the building. Team up with your fellow student and give a presentation about the building in terms of entrances, paths, places, servant spaces and transitions, as well as private vs. public spaces. Adding personal thoughts/understanding of the building to the presentation is advisable.
